[ACT 1] [ACT 2] [ACT 3] - [S: YOU THERE. BOY.] - [S: Enter.] [ACT 4] The first gate teleports John to LOWAS. He explores, completing a variety of tasks that PM addresses to him, leaving items - a shoe and hat, both eventually finding their ways to John's dad - in parcel pyxii as their minitablets request. He speaks to many salamanders, learning about LOWAS, the planet's denizen, the revered Heir of Breath, and illegal contraband. He also confers with Nannasprite, who is able to remain in contact with him but can't yet actually leave her station at John's house. John finds a vantage point where he spots the rock spire his house sits atop. John continues exploring LOWAS, stumbling upon a salamander village. It's under attack of underlings, and John struggles to fight them off. A giant basilisk chomps him into its mouth, but is shot at and defeated by Jade's grandpa before it can totally devour him. John spots the strange man carrying his book, but doesn't have a chance to follow right now because he has to figure out how to set out the fire engulfing the village, set by the underlings. He tries a Barbasol bomb, known for its incredibly cooling properties, but it just makes the situation much worse. Then, suddenly, a huge breeze blows by, totally extinguishing the village. The salamanders tout John as their savior. PM contacts John again, while all the salamanders are bouncing him around on top of them, and she asks him to engrave a minitablet he picked up earlier with a picture of a pair of Sburb betas. He obliges (though the drawing is crappy, sorry), and drops the minitablet in a parcel pyxis. (Later, PM? receives the tablet, prompting her to seek out the betas.) Terezi gets in contact with John, offering him a shortcut to beating Sburb sooner. Nannasprite already told John that he should aim to reach the gates further above his house, but that's rather out of reach right now. Since he doesn't have any particular direction he's headed at the moment, he accepts the troll's guidance. She sends him a map file, which he follows to a gate at ground level. It's a return node; he hops in, and it teleports him back to his house. In order to actually reach the seventh gate, Terezi assists John with repairing the rocket pack he created from a random keysmash captcha code earlier in the day. John blasts off, entering the final gate and arriving within his denizen's palace. He ventures deeper, prepared to sneak past the sleeping Typheus and steal the guarded treasure hoard as Terezi had guided him, but when he reaches the lair, he finds his denizen is already awake. The specifics are unclear and not shown, but it surmises that John has died, killed by his denizen after being misled by a troll. John entering the seventh gate is the defining moment when the timeline he occupies becomes marked as doomed; as a result, Jade has nobody to act as her server player and bring her into the session. From that day on, Dave and Rose lose contact with Jade, presuming her crushed by a meteor, along with the rest of Earth. They continue through the game, gathering intel, but unable to actually proceed, since without Jade - without a Space-aspect player - they have no one to 'stoke the forge' (nor the forge, Jade's volcano, itself). After several months of this, Dave gets fed up with being stuck in a doomed timeline and dealing with Calsprite (whose prototyping could be considered a simultaneously timeline-dooming event). Armed with knowledge of the game, loads of useful equipment, and a plan to lead the timeline in a better direction, he time travels back to just before John blasts off. In this new timeline, future-Dave pesters John from his rooftop (talking by proxy through present-Dave), urging him not to enter the gate. John is wary, figuring his friend is just pranking him, and blasts off anyway. But, at the last moment, he recalls the letter he received along with the bunny from Dave's package for his birthday, and he reconsiders, turning to avoid entering any of the gates. Instead, he decides to fly around the sky, not wanting to miss out on the opportunity. Future-Dave, now having self-prototyped to become Davesprite, pesters John. Davesprite had gotten seriously frustrated with John earlier, who had inadvertently called him less than the "real Dave", so there's a bit of tension here. He gives John a captcha code without clarifying its significance (it's for the hammer Fear No Anvil); John thanks him for saving his life. Terezi also messages airborne-John, and she half-apologizes for leading a doomed timeline version of him to his death. - [S: Dave: Accelerate.] - [S: Descend.] [ACT 5] [ACT 6] [ACT 7]
