[transcribed 2021-06-02] Glynn is the protagonist. The story is told in third-person as written text. Important plot details! What did Avin do that was so horribly horrible? Might be interesting (but possibly unnecessary) to make Pasta be relevant here. Story building is good, it’d be nice to know exactly why everybody’s together on the same quest (or at least part of the same party). Having two of the party members be related or something would be interesting! There’s lots of different outcomes based on the situations. - Glynn and Avin are siblings or friends. This would provide more of a personal conflict between the two, which Pasta might avoid getting too much involved with. It would also give a whole bunch of good premises behind why Glynn gets so upset at Avin, in the first place. - Avin and Pasta are siblings or friends. Glynn could then be seen as a side-character, rather than one who started the quest (instead jumping into Avin and Pasta’s path, all together). This would probably give interesting backstory for Glynn specifically. - Glynn and Pasta are siblings or friends. I haven’t thought out Pasta enough to be sure about this one. - Everyone’s separate! I don’t think this is the one I’d go with. It seems kind of convenient for three characters to join together to make a story, and even repetitive (even if it’s across a really long time). Plus it probably wouldn’t even be a very interesting story. --- Character details! Here’s the notes I made in the original fake draft: - Avin is a determined party member. But Avin gets distracted. He likes to help out wherever he can, which gets him somewhat sidetracked. He still really wants to complete his objective, though – possibly the most out of all the party members! It's just difficult for others to see that, when he always seems to be helping others instead of focusing on the quest. - Glynn doesn't like Avin. Avin really gets on Glynn's nerves. Glynn sees Avin as the happy-go-lucky kind of person – he just doesn't seem to care about much that's important! - Pasta is the third party member. Pasta has good friendships with both Glynn and Avin. Obligatory note: Avin is not me. You could see how Avin might be based on me, but he isn’t. The problems and internal conflicts Avin faces aren’t even based on any of my own! First, a horrible disease or fire or whatever has struck a bunch of the island where our three protagonists live. It’s causing horrible destruction, and nobody really knows how to cure/fix it. Avin and Glynn are friends who’ve set out to find a solution. They’ve got a relatively good idea of what they’re looking for – maybe an overheard discussion from their town prompted them to find something. On the other hand, we have Pasta. She’s from another community that’s also been hit by the fire/plague/whatever. She’s also on a quest to help her town. That’s kind of understatement, though; she *actually* wants to figure out how to fix or help everything. She’s also got some kind of a special power[1] that she wants to practice (mental/perceptive, not physical!). So with that she figures she might as well just go on a bit of an adventure to figure out how to help. So what *is* Pasta’s magical skill/power? It’s definitely an important thing to know before writing Pasta’s story! But maybe it should be revealed somewhat slowly. We should learn about it as she learns about it (and practices it). It would be interesting if we’re only explicitly told she has any kind of power when she fills out a form! Perhaps we could learn just a little about her power before that, though, so that particularly invested readers can theorize/get a suspicion of her powers. [1] Hi, Orobas. --- World notes.. No humans occupy the world. Zero. They never existed and never will. It’s generally normal for multiple species to form a community. Of course, it’s not impossible for the people of one species to differentiate those of another (ex. a town dedicated to creatures of a specific species practicing their fighting skills that doesn’t include those of any other species), but it’s not strange to find towns made of more than one species (or even people of different species living in the same house!).
