browsed through the sadly sparse tag of "espingle" on tumblr. was quite sweet all through, though single oldest tagged post was an ask along lines of "ummmm IDW drew the LESBIAN flag behind whispangle... Ummm....."

this is of course ridiculous. so answered the blog, naturally.

still, makes us wonder about sexual or romantic identity, somewhat. for one posing espio as a "straight man" is beyond comedy. perhaps the mannest man and a goofball at once, but he is no "straight man". should be obvious he's a national treasure of the sapphics...

would espingle read as a "lesbian" attraction, relationship? surely could, but...?

broadly dislike the notion that any connection between peoples is grounds to challenge one's identity. yet, where else do connective identities come from?

perhaps the conflict comes from an intrinsic nature multifaceted. yes a "lesbian" identity is connective; yes a "lesbian" identity carries, reflects, emblemizes something entirely in the self. for that matter a "connective" identity tends to describe something about both ends...

tend to think of identities as theories of the self, a personal philosophy we make of our own nature. yet there's something declarative to them, too: we find our identities through our behavior, yet tailor our behavior through our identities...
