On the surface it's plainly obvious that they're both canine ladies. Their experiences of their bodies surely differ (Whisper leans a lot more expressly nonhuman, if almost but not quite feral, than Jade did). Their personal outlooks differ, too (Jade was overwhelmed by loneliness and made it up with boundless affection; Whisper acclimates the loss of so much close to her by finding an inherent peace and connection in the world). But I feel like they're both getting at a certain range of core experiences, and it's their species that bring them most together, that way.
There's probably some degree of overlap in their everyday hearts and casual habits, too. We've forgotten most of what Jade was like - what she liked - so it's hard to tell.
