We discovered Floraverse during Seeds: War is Hell and caught up more or less in one night through the then-latest update, The Prophecy. We were thirteen years old at the time and started obsessing over Floraverse pretty much immediately. We shortly discovered Forbidden Flora and became attached to that, too. 2018 was a difficult year for us. We reconnected with Floraverse in May 2019 and have from time to time re-joined its community spaces, but mostly continue to follow the story without directly visiting.
We've learned a lot about emotional expression and processing through Floraverse and occasionally through being part of or around its community. In particular, Floraverse gave us language we use to talk about connection and resonance. Floraverse gave us courage to face and accept large emotions and taught us how to experience the parts we don't like about ourselves without shame - without putting those parts down. Much of what we learned from or through Floraverse became a core part of who we are. We carry it in everything we do, but express it the most in our art.
Floraverse probably inspired us to get a drawing tablet - apparently for Christmas 2017. Over 2017 we'd been doing a mix of traditional art (mostly pencil) and digital art (trackpad + Medibang), all of it while closely following Floraverse. We continued to draw throughout 2018, even past April. It was a formative time in a lot of ways, but especially for our art.
