    This song is a bit of a special one since it was my first Vast Error song I wrote when I joined the team. I had actually written the main riff a few months prior to joining the team but never really got around to making a finished song with it. When I was retooling it for Vol.5, I decided to take an entirely different approach then I had previously. I was listening to a lot of Daft Punk at the time and I decided to rewrite the song in the vein of the song [[track:aerodynamic-daft-punk|“Aerodynamic.”]] Just like that song, DEAD 2 RIGHTS is built around a processed, resampled guitar riffs that I took from the original demo and dance beats like 909s and Amen Breaks. In addition, I played around with repetition by having certain elements drop in and out throughout the track. It was a bit out of my wheel house but I think the final product was good.

    Here is the first song of mine for Vast Error Volume 5! This is my first track on Side 1. It's a hard hitting industrial rock piece for Taz, done in a [[artist:nine-inch-nails]] sort of style. I deliberately pushed myself far out of my comfort zone with this track, as it's not a style I am used to. It was originally composed as an instrumental, but I decided to add vocals with [[artist:rom-m|Rom]] and [[artist:castigadora|Julia's]] aid. Their assistance was invaluable!

    Here is the second song of mine for Vast Error: Volume 5! This is my second track on Side 1. I originally made this piece back in January 2020 as an ode to [[artist:oneohtrix-point-never|Oneohtrix Point Never's]] early progressive electronic style (although a little more maximalist). It was meant to be released on a solo EP, but thanks to the pandemic that never quite materialized. I always loved the track, though, and when time came for work on Volume 5 to begin I decided to throw it on the album. I still consider it to be one of my best songs.

    Okay so. this song had a bit of a troubled development. For various reasons, this song went through like 3-4 different iterations before it became the song you’re hearing now. More so, this final version of the song was almost completely written 48 hours before the album came out. Despite all of that however, Torchlight probably one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written at up to this point. In terms of inspiration for this track, I took influence from the songs [[“Softly”]] and [[“Stellarum Salve”]] by RJ Lake. In addition, I also drew inspiration from the song [“Shanghai”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-01sgnVgkRc) by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. I wanted this song to be bright, saccharine and little cute like those songs I mentioned previously because I felt that vibe fit Jentha perfectly. I’m pretty proud of this one not just because of how I was able to write this in such a short period of time but also because the song gave me an avenue to experiment with synthpop production for the first time. For that I will probably always love this song despite the issues.

    For my inaugural Vast Error outing, I made a Murrit-themed song out of other songs! Some are songs I really love, some are linked to Murrit, some are linked to the other trolls, and others are Vast Error songs themselves... See how many you can spot!

    The song is based around the lead-up to the End of Act 2. We start with Murrit's braggadocio, followed by their heated conversation with Metatron, and passages centered around the main cast while Murrit reflects on being their unofficial guardian. But, just as Murrit recounts the ritual he saw that went wrong, forces beyond the static intervene...

    I thought of making a song around looping [[track:miserlou]] back in January 2021, and had to work for many months to get my skills to the level I needed. Since I used Audacity, I had to do a lot of guesswork for timing and applied a lot of effects to various samples, but in the end, I pulled it off. I hope you enjoy!

    well, i've peaked. time to pack it up

    working on this was a ton of fun! [[artist:austinado|Austin]] and [[artist:splitsuns|Split]] wrote some beautiful, horrible, incredible lyrics, and [[artist:paul-henderson|Paul]] knocked it out of the park with their vocal performance. by some miracle, we've made something we're proud of here.
