     I had a lot of fun working on Calamity which gave me an opportunity to adapt a very classic Marvel comic book style to Homestuck. My favorite part of the piece is the small touch in Karkat’s eyes where the background shows through, coloring them. As [[artist:michael-guy-bowman|Bowman]] worked on Calamity I was developing the composition for the art. [[flash:4085|The moment when Karkat and Gamzee lunge at each other]] got my heart racing in the sheer epic-ness of the sight. It had to be the track art.

     Frog Hunt was, like [[Calamity]], one of the more challenging pieces since I opted for a much cleaner (And much more Disney) look for the piece. I totally saw Jade and Dave on the frog hunt, dressing for the part as adventurers and explorers. Jade, in her excitement, may have dragged Dave through a couple of bushes and thorned plants.

Soon some big drums and some spacey guitars found their way into the mix (in my attempts to make something on the line of ambient black or doom metal).  Finally, I added Dave’s “blast off” to help Rose with a metal-ified version of [[Atomyk Ebonpyre]] (which people keep requesting a full version of… maybe).  This was another track that I had a clear design for, following as best as I could the events surrounding [Rose and Dave’s chat on Derse](https://www.homestuck.com/story/3875) before creating the Green Sun, focusing more on the atmosphere surrounding the debacle than what they talked about.      The album art I did for Drift Into The Sun whoop whoop. There were so many wonderful arts and musics included in Volume 8, and I’m incredibly honored to be included on the album! Derse siblings are pretty baller, and Rose is my favorite kid, so it was good times all around.

     Back when we knew Jade as just GG, I wrote the first part of Carefree Action as a possible upbeat strife theme for her. It never ended up getting used, but other people liked it, and eventually a remix of it ([[Carefree Victory]]) made it into the comic.      Days before the release of *Homestuck Volume 8,* I lucked out and was offered the opportunity to make track art.  I chose “Carefree Action” and wound up with a cute 8-bit tune.  It’s a lighter version of [[“Carefree Victory”]] from *[[album:homestuck-vol-4|Volume 4]]*. The 8-bit sound and peppiness of the song gave me the idea of Jade and Dave collecting frogs as they would coins in a video game.
